OPI DESIGNER SERIES

After seeing OPI Designer Series (just a fancy name so they can charge more) in Extravagance, I had to get it. Last night I decided to paint my nails with Extravagance. This color is really. . . nice. OPI isn't my favorite brand of nail polish, as I have said before, but I didn't let that stop me from paying the extra money to get this color. I don't know if my nails are just really small or what, but I have the hardest time using OPI's brushes. They are just too wide for my nails. Painting my pinky nail is like a circus side show. I like this color, but I don't think it really is worth the $12.50!!!!!! I paid at Beauty Brands. And really I only went ahead and did that because they had a special going, if you spend $17 in OPI products, you got a free base coat/top coat. So I picked out Eiffel for This Color to put me over the $17. I am sure you have all seen pictures of this color, but I bet you haven't seen it on my nails yet, so here ya go!

I really want to hear what you all think about OPI designers series.
Do you really think it is worth the extra money?

Hi Brooke!
The first thing I saw was Dinky's nails. She looks so adorable. I haven't even read the rest of the blog. I've bought the OPI polish cheaper on Head2toe. They are beautiful. I think all of the polishes are overpriced but what's a girl to do!

Oh, I just received my first OPI today, and it happens to be at Designers Series, Royal :-) It was way too expensive but I couldn't resist the colour when I saw some swatches. I hope I have time to try it next weekend.

LUCY - Thanks, I think she looks pretty cute too. I knew I could get it cheaper online, but I wanted the color so bad and I knew that if I placed an online order I would over spend, so I ran to the store and picked it up.

AMABILE - I hope you like yours. I bet it will look great on you, too.

I won't buy the DS b/c I'm way too cheap. I only buy the regular OPI's when there's that lovely B2G1 sale at ULTA. :) Now if they did something like that with the DS ones, I'd be on that like white on rice.

Oh, I answered your question on Manicure Mommas. :)

SMOOCHIEFROG - I agree, I am cheap too, but that color just looked so good, I splurged in a moment of weakness :)

Thanks, I will go check it out :)

It's beautiful, but knowing I can get it cheaper online, I doubt I'd pay full price for it in the store.

That said, I did buy an OPI DS polish awhile back...a rose pink one that really is beautiful. My sis and I split the cost, if I recall, and we both wore it a few times.

I got DS Exclusive after I saw a swatch of it at Stephanie's PolishAddict. I hemmed and hawed *a lot* when I was at the store, but went ahead and splurged. I love it -- anytime it's on when I'm in the sunshine, I just stare at my nails. That said, I still go back and forth whether I want to get the others - $12.50 is such an outlay. A local store here has a B3GO deal, but that's still $37.50 for four, not including tax. So, for now, it's a no go for me. Buuuut . . . .

I really really like the Designer Series. It lasts forever without a lot of chips and the colors are fantastic! It sucks that they are that much $.

I LOVE the DS shades. I ordered four more from Trans Design- they were 6.95 from them.....

That color looks great on you!

Hey, tell me about Beauty Brands... I've always wanted to go there, but it's pretty far from me and I don't make it up that way very often...

And I definitely want to do a Friday night beer meet-up soon!

Luckily for me, one of my friends is a cosmetology student and I went with her to Armstrong McCall, a professionals-only beauty supply and bought Extravagance (which I HAD to have after seeing it on Scrangie's page) for $6.50 My local Trade Secret only JUST got the new DS shades along with the South Beach collection, which is about 4 months too late for me. Speaking of Trade Secret, I've bought all my other DS shades there for 30% off; I think they're (Design, Diamond, Exclusive and Fantasy) all discontinued now so they're 30% off, which would make them around $8.50 each...I would just think of it as paying full price for a normal OPI.

JAMIE - Good idea, splitting the cost. I will have to see if I can talk one of my sisters in to that!

ANON - I agree, it looks great in the sun. I have caught myself checking my nails while outside.

NESSA - My polish never last more than about a day, I'm always changing it :)

SASHA - I would say it is sort of like ULTA but not really, lol (that wasn't much help was it?) I think price wise they are the same. Beauty Brands is on a smaller scale. I like beauty brands over Ulta, I think BB just looks less clutered. ALso, BB doesn't sell any of the drugstore brands like ULTA will. Hope that helps.

THE ASIAN GIRL - Lucky YOU! Getting in a professional only beauty supply! I'm jealous!

I really do love the designer series polishes. I don't think they should cost more than regular OPI, but they do have some pretty nice colors.

I've grown to luuurve the OPI pro wide brush. It's wonderful for my chubby nails :D

PIXIE - Maybe I was just expecting something "grand" for $12.50 - like flowers to sprout from my nails or something :)

Oh, I looove the Ds series. Bought them all online (except two that I haven't gotten my hands on yet) but of course with extra shipping cost since I live in Sweden. We swedes are use to outrageous costs, an ordinary OPI is between $12-14 in stores here..
But the holo is seeping into my heart (and brain, heh) and then price becomes second issue.. ;-D

ANON (PIXELPIG) - I would die if I had to pay $12-$14 a bottle of polish! I guess I can say I tried a DS and I own one, but I won't be saying I own two DS's - lol (unless I get one as a gift or something, lol)
