POLL RESULTS & MISC.

Thanks to all who voted in the poll to Vote for My Mom's Next Mani. The winning choices were:

Image plate M57
Purple, Creme nail polish

I will pick a corresponding color for the stamp. I hope to get the mani up before the end of the week, so be looking out for that!

Next up, I will be doing a product review on a Hana Salon mini ceramic Flat Iron. I know it's not "nails" related, but I REALLY wanted to try this product out. I already have a pretty good flat iron, so I am anxious to try it against this one, which is supposed to be pretty good. Plus it is a mini and travel size, so how awesome is that? I have to thank the WONDERFUL Lisa Cocuzza of It's A Glam Thing for making this possible! I read a couple of the reviews already up on this iron, and I must confess I have my expectations up fairly high on this one.

I have some disappointing news on my Orly Satins I ordered from Ebay. I rec'd the white one in the mail in just a couple of days. However when I got it, I realized it wasn't really "white", it is just kind of sheer - FAIL!!

Look at how sheer this is!! I even painted one nail, and it was still sheer after four coats - boo!
Then to make matters worse, the yellow one I was most excited about:

Never came! So yesterday I finally contacted the seller, and after two emails from me, they finally responded saying they "ran out" of the yellow one. Did I want another color or my money back! WTF!! No! I want the yellow one! Didn't one of you guys (EDIT LOLA5375) tell me you ordered the yellow one too? Did you get yours? This is the second time that something like this has happened to me on ebay. Does this happen alot?

So anyway, I picked this red one:

LASTLY - I wanted to say a BIG thank you to all who left me info on the mystery of my hands. I really appreciate all the info. you all left for me and I have been spending most of the day researching and checking out the links I was given. I really, really appreciate it all so much!

What an absolute snitter about the Orlys. Try the white as a topcoat over another white I guess :/

I can't believe they didn't tell you about the yellow before posting the white to you. Meanies. Makes me mad.

I've never had a bad exp, but then I only ever buy from one amazing seller. Bad feedback time?

HELEN - It was disapointing to say the least!! The yellow one was THE MAIN ONE I wanted!

Hi Brooke,
That's really weird that they didn't mail you yours or tell you. I also got mine after you since you inspired me to get it. Anyways, the yellow one is very disappointing to say the least. It is probably even more sheer than the white one you got. I think they thinned it out (it has the consistency of water). Hopefully the red one you got is a lot better!

I have found that things I get from ebay tend to be a disappointment for me hence why I usually avoid it.

Wixology has been posting about these polishes this week - would be worth seeing her comments on application etc.

GRACE - Well I'm sorry the yellow one turned out to be such a disapointment!! But I figured as much, I even asked them is they didn't just send mine to someone else or something, I haven't heard back on that one yet....but obviously that is what happened.

HELEN - Yes, I have a couple email from Wix about those. I hadn't seen the posts on her blog though, I better go check that out - stat!!

That flat iron is so cute (Dinky-sized)! That's too bad about the Orly Satin polishes. What a disappointment :/

MARY - The flat iron is Dinky sized huh! The Satin's are quite the disapointment :(

Brooke,

I am with Grace on the yellow Orly.
Very sheer. I would have been okay with that but it also doesn't look good with my skin tone.
Hopefully the red one works out better - it looks pretty awesome.

Brooke,
I got cheated so bad on Ebay (ordering one thing and getting another) that I quit using it. Specifically, I ordered a limited edition of Eternity perfume, the light Summer version. I got sent the regular one. Though what I got was clearly not what was auctioned, Ebay didn't help at all. The seller kept my money, didn't try to work with me, and left me a negative feedback. Screw that.

OK! Rant over.

As for the Orly white, try mixing with some pigment or eyeshadow. I wouldn't mix the whole bottle at once, but you could get some cool satin-finish manis from it.

I would listen to Amanda about mixing with some pigments. You might have a pretty polish. What a shame about the polish. I've never ordered from Ebay. Each time I think about it I read about someones bad experiences.

I purchased society after seeing it on your blog and another color called panache. In order for society to not be so sheer and streaky I think I ended up doing about 4 coats (this was a test on one finger), once I did that it looked MUCH better. I haven't done a full mani with either color yet but I am hoping the results will be as good as the test.

I'd try laying the white over a color. I used to have a Manic Panic silver/white, but when I put a coat of it over another color, it made it look kind of like satin fabric with the brush strokes. Really cool effect. I wish I still had that polish.

I still have one Orly Satin in the trapazoid shaped bottle in gold. It's ok and looks nice over some other polishes. I had another in a mauve pink duochrome, but I don't know what happened to it.

Oh my, that's so disappointing! I really dislike when you don't get information about the product, because then you get a picture in your head about how it will look, and then it turns out like this. I'm sorry for you, and mad at them for you!

LOLA - That toally sucks about the yellow one being so sheer, that's why it was so cool looking in the bottle, it looked like pure buttah baby!

GLITTER - That sucks! I thought ebay bent over backwards trying to help people that had been cheated! I think I am going to maybe try some eyeshadow in the white one and see what I can come up with.

LUCY - I am gonna try to franken it into something. I have had some good experiences with ebay, it was just these two that the stories just sounded familar and it was nail polish that isn't easy to find so it makes it really disapointing.

ANON - I feel bad about posting about the polish before I got them since they pretty much turned out to be fails! But I ovviously sent that ebay seller some business you think they would have at least taken care of me,lol!

AURORA - I am gonna try to franken with this white one and see what I get - keeping fingers crossed!!

ALEXLYNDRA - I know, the picture on their site really sold me on that yellow polish! What a shame!

Aww, that's too bad about the lovely yellow polish. :( Well, at least that red one looks nice too!

I might have a solution to your eBay problems. Do any of ya'll check the sellers feedback before you order from them? I have over 300 purchases off eBay, mostly domestic, and I've only had 5 bad experiences, EVER. I buy my nail supplies for school on there all the time, and the only complaint I have is SHIPPING taking a little longer than expected (I expect my package within 3-7 days!). :)

ANGIE - I am def. anxious to see what the red one will look like. I will be happy if it is opaque! I'm not asking for much here :)

ANON - I don't know if I check the "feedback" but I look at their percentage rate, ranking thing. If it is high then I usually assume that they are some one good to buy from. Thanks for the tip :)
