NOBODY PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER

Usually I haven't commented on all of these celebrity deaths we have had this summer, but Patrick Swayze I just had to say something about. DIRTY DANCING was my favorite movie for the longest time. I think I could recite almost all the lines in that movie and I still watch it from time to time ( last time was about 6 months ago!). There was a time, and my sisters can attest to this, that I watched Dirty Dancing EVERYDAY after school for several months straight. The best line from that movie has to be "Nobody puts Baby in the corner!".

!! EDIT !!
Reading Velvet's comment brought up some memories I had from this movie. I remember where I was the first time I watched this movie and I thought it was so racy, lol! I couldn't believe my mom let us watch it, but I loved it. (It was at the house at Lake Canton, remember Mom?)

I also remember me and my sisters cutting our jeans off into long shorts and then rolling the cut legs up! I thought I was so cool!!

If anyone has any memories they would like to share about watching this movie, or Patrick Swayze memories at all, I hope you do in the comments, I love reading them.

This is a classic clip from SNL:

I admit - I sing along to this song during the movie :)

Patrick Swayze died of pancreatic cancer - which is how I have lost a loved one too. Let's pray for cures for ALL cancer.

Brooke!
I am right with you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dirty Dancing. All time fav!
I swear, that shot where he's dancing and the camera pans behind him and you can see his muscles rippling in his back...yeah, I give him credit for sparking my love of muscular men!

What a gorgeous gentleman he was. I've watched a few biographies about his life and everyone always had something incredibly positive to say about him - how refreshing that was. And I too sing along to "She's Like the Wind". I feel so bad for his loved ones, and I know he'll be greatly missed. There have been a lot of deaths this summer, but for some reason, maybe because he was part of "my generation" pop culture, I feel very sad about his passing.

Hi Brooke. I remember seeing Dirty Dancing for the first time, at my best friends 13th slumber party. It was a video rental,my parents wouldn't let me see it when it first came out....lol! I remember thinking how cool my best friends mom was. And of course I never told my mom...lol!

I am heartbroken! Patrick Swayze was one of the few actors that I have always had great respect for! He was a credit to his profession and his gender! Not to mention the hottie factor! He will be missed and DH and I watched DD lastnight in memory!

CHRISTY - I think this was the movie the he looked the best in - personally. Plus I just love that era - it just seemed so fun.

NICOLE - I agree - it was such a shock, even though he has been battling cancer for a while now. I wonder if having your loved ones in movies helps or hurts more . . . in a sense you always get to see them whenever you want, but then you always see them too. Double edged sword.

VELVET - ha ha!! I remember where I was when I watched this movie for the first time too!! I remember cutting all my jeans into shorts and rolling them up!! I totally forgot about these memories, I need to add them to the post!!

EVIL ANGEL - I am know they will be playing the heck out of his movies, so I will catch Dirty Dancing on very soon.

Dirty Dancing is classic and I can't believe he's gone! I am with you about praying for a cure. My friend just lost both parents within six months of lung cancer; this is my one-week smoking quittiversary...I don't want to go down like that and I don't want anyone else to either!!! xo

Dirty Dancing is one of my all time fav movies too! I watch it whenever I see it on tv. Boy how I really like Patrick Swayze, I was pullin' for him to get well. I was lucky enough to have a group pic taken with him about 6 yrs ago and you know I'll keep that picture safe! Thanks for sharing your feelings.

I'm another person who loved his movies. I also had real admiration for who he was as a person. I also have watched many biographies and specials about him. He was truly a gentlemen. I feel so bad for his wife. They were together since she was 15 years old. I went to see Dirty Dancing in the movies. I loved the movie. I just wanted to dance like that with Patrick Swayze. I think I've seen most movies he's been in. Loved him on SNL. I can never forget that bit. He looked so good. I lost my favorite Aunt and Uncle to pancreatic cancer.

My story is the same as Velvet's - my friend was bought the video for Xmas many years ago, when we were about 11 and I wasn't allowed to watch it as my mum thought it was too rude so I sneaked over to my friend's house where we watched in awe.

At the time I didnt understand any of the stuff about the abortion and so on but I loved the dancing.

My favourite bits have to be the scene in the water, and also "I carried a watermelon"!

All time classic - RIP Patrick :(

I adore Dirty Dancing. I can never watch it enough!
I'm a big fan of "To Wong Foo" also. It was a huge risk and it turned out brilliantly!
This is just very sad because it's clear that Patrick Swayze was a lovely person as well as talented.

Well, I never cared much for Dirty Dancing, but I loved, loved, LOVED him and the movie itself, Ghost. I cried an ocean.

I'm so sad he's gone. I am only glad he's no longer suffering, but still I keep thinking about his family and loved ones.
He's one of the few actors I actually had respect for, and it's incredibly refreshing to hear so many people only say good things about him.

RIP Patrick Swayze.
