CHINA GLAZE - POOLSIDE SUMMER COLLECTION REVIEW

FLIP FLOP FANTASY

KIWI KOOL-ADA

POOL PARTY

SUN WORSHIPER

TOWEL BOY TOY

YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI

Ok, lets start off with the colors - they are neon and awesome! Perfect colors for a summer collection. None of them were just terribly new or unique - but lovely still the same. For neon lovers out there like me, I would say you need this collection :)

Now, we all know China Glaze is my top nail polish brand - so it pains me to have to say the following. All of these were a pain in the ass to apply.....I know, believe me, it hurts me more than it does you China Glaze. The problem with these is that they are mostly jelly-ish neon polishes. Not a bad thing, but to make them opaque you are looking at a minimum of three coats, mostly four though. Four coats normally wouldn't bother me, except you have to let them all completely!! If you don't you will get cuticle drag. In order for me to swatch these in a timely manner I painted two thin coats then applied a coat of seche to speed up the drying process, then applied one to two more coats as needed then topped them off with another top coat. So I guess its all about time with these in order to get a nice opaque, streak-free coverage.

So for me personally I still love this collection, but I will either apply two coats of top coat if I'm in a hurry or make sure I have enough time to let each coat dry completely before adding another. Neon and jelly lovers I think will find that the extra time involved is worth it.

I've been waiting for your review! Yippee!

Towel Boy Toy is AMAZING. I looks gorgeous. I love Sun Worshipper too. Am I the only one super thrilled that there are TWO yellows in this collection? I love yellow polish so I think that is awesome.

That is unfortunate about the sheer factor, although would they wear reasonably as summer sheers with just two coats? That sheer jelly look can be kind of cool during the hot summer months :)

Thanks for the great swatch pictures and the review Brooke!

I'm not a huge neon fan, but I think I might grab a couple of those for shits and giggles. I love the yellows/oranges and the green!

Neons are my absolute favorite so I don't care if they are a pain to apply - I want them all!!

These are gorgeous!! I think I want them all except the yellow polka dot bikini.

What is cuticle drag?

Is that when the polish is thinner near the cuticle because the second coat went on over a wet first coat and sort of thinned out the polish coat there / kind of wiping it away? -jenb

Or you could put on a "mannequin hands" color and stick with two coats maybe? worth a try anyway.
I think I need Sun Worshiper

Neon's seem to be very hard ones to apply :( but the end result is gorgeous and I am so jealous of any that gets this :P damn this nobuy/saving up for appartment stuff! sigh :(

I Think Flip Flop Fantasy is the only colour I'd really wear out of these! The pink one's nice too but nothing exciting - not my favourite collection :( looking forward to Vintage Vixen though!

BROOKE - These come of as streaky with only two coats. You really need 3 to 4. While jelly like - they are neon too, its very hard to describe what kind of polish this is!

SARAHLOO - Thank you! I was really hoping these were going to look good on camera, sometimes the flash can really show any application issues.

ANON - Yes, that is cuticle drag. That is why it took so long to apply these, you have to let them dry completly!!

ELIZ - Yes, good point. I thought about it, but since I was doing a review, I thought I should just work with the polish and not add another to it! :)

LEANNE - I don't think I have even seen pics of Vintage Vixen - must scour the web now!!

WIZZARDS OF BLING - Just get them all!!! :)

Darn that stinks to read this. I didn't even want them till I saw them here. They all look fantastic on you. That yellow is really beautiful. Oh hell they all are. I might skip them. Your making it tough.

Well bummer about the application...but I'm still going to need several, I think. Flip Flop, Sun Worshiper and Towel Boy, at least. *sigh*

Lovely swatches, as usual. :-)
