Did that get your attention? This mani is so much more pretty in real life. Sometimes my camera can make things look better than they are, other times, like now, not look as good. This is so shiny and glossy that I can't quit looking at it and buffing up the shine on my clothes.
I used three coats of Rimmel in Purple Rain and two coats of Sally Hansen in Electrode. LOVES IT!
BONUS: Some pics of Little, it's been awhile since you guys last saw him :)
I have a couple more swatches for you all to enjoy. I got a couple of the NEW Sally Hansen Salon nail polishes. This is supposed to be an improved formula and brush. I thought the brush was nice. As far as formula, I thought these seemed to be a little bit thicker but both of these colors required three coats to get even coverage, which seemed strange since they looked like they were pretty pigmented and thick. Nice, but not worth their $7.50 price tag. I only picked these two up since CVS had them buy one get one 50% off.
I also have another Rimmel from their new line to show you too. I didn't get them out and do a side by side comparison, but the brush seems exactly the same in both the Rimmel and Sally Hansens. The Rimmels go for $3.99 and are just as nice, but not as big as a color selection as the new SH Salon polishes.
PLUM LUCK, PLUM'S THE WORD, HOT COCOA
PLUM LUCK You can see in regular lighting this shows to be much darker, almost black.
PLUM'S THE WORD
HOT COCOA Again, a much darker, browner color in regular lighting.
Did some swatching for you all last night. First up I have the two new Rimmels I got. I found these at Walgreens for $3.99 each. About $4 is all I think a drugstore brand of nail polish should go for (I'm talking to you Sally H.!).
I got onto Rimmel's website in hopes of finding out more information on this new line of nail polishes, but they have not updated their site with any information yet. UGH!! Huge pet peeve. I would much rather a company NOT have a website if they aren't going to keep it up to date with current information. I did send an email though requesting more information on this collection and hope to get a response back soon.
STEEL GREY This is one of those colors that can change depending on what lighting you are in. This can look grey, mushroom, khaki or mauve. I really liked this color, but was surprised that it was pretty sheer in the first coat. This polish does require three coats to be opaque. You could get away with two if you apply very carefully though.
PURPLE RAIN I would love this if it would have stayed a little bit more purple. The flash I used made the purple of this color stand out more than it did in just regular lighting. Even with all that, I did really like this color. Do you see how shiny that baby is?
As far as this new line of polishes, I really, really liked these. My hope is that they are planning to come out with some more adventurous colors though. I love the price and will be getting more of these.
If you like Sally Hansen Salon nail polishes, then you must get to Walgreens!! Mine had them on sale for $1.79 ea!!!!! I assume since they are trying to make way for her new and improved (So improved Sally thinks $7.50 is a suitable price!!!) version. These polishes were $6.79, making them $5.00 off each. I love these polishes, mostly for the square bottle shape, but there are some nice colors in the collection as well. Here are the ones I got:
Best name for nail polish ever: Back to the Fuchsia!!
I also picked up a couple of the Insta Dri's. I already have Brisk Blue, but it is the best bright blue to use for konading. My bottle is like almost empty, so I was really glad to see they brought this color back.
I also picked up a couple of the new Rimmels. Notice anything about their new bottles? They are exactly like the old Sally Hansen Salon bottles. The Rimmel's have a different lid, but the bottle part is exactly the same. Even the font (on the back of the bottles) seems to be the same too. Loving the crown detail on the tops of these!
I decided to do some orange nail polish swatches for you all in the name of Halloween! Enjoy the pic spam :)
NABI - KATE I have really been impressed with all my Nabi brand nail polishes that I have. This one was no exception. This was a really shimmery peachy orange shade that was a little mature for my taste, but still very pretty.
RIMMEL - POP QUIZ Pinky finger - one coat Pop Quiz over black. This Rimmel is just full of flakes!! You really need to enlarge this to see all the flaky buttery layers, lol. It looks a little rough in the pics but it really isn't, I think it is the flakes playing tricks on ya!
PURE ICE - HOT TAMALE This was one I bought a long time ago but never used. Wowser was this pretty on! I almost kept it on for my NOTD but ended up deciding on another color. This is so pretty and shimmer, not bad for a cheap-o brand.
CHINA GLAZE - BREAKIN This one I will be comparing to Sinful Colors - Cloud 9 a little later for you all today. This is another shimmery orange. The shimmer is yellow and gives it a really cool look.
NABI - NEON ORANGE This one would have worked better if I would have done about 2 more coats, but me and the BF were going to watch a movie so I had to get a move on it! This is a squishy shiny jelly. This is just screaming for a Halloween makeover on it I think.
NYX GIRLS - GOLDEN GLITTER Boy, was I surprised by this one. Such a pretty color. This reminds me of some of those new CG glitters that came out. This is a dark reddish orange jelly base with shimmery glitter suspended in it. Another color I got several months ago (the Las Vegas trip) that I never used. That's two colors that I judged by the outside and not their insides, let that be a lesson to us all. Girls, if you see this polish, get it!
SALLY HANSEN FIRE OPAL - EARTHEN OPAL How pretty is this? This totally looks like fall to me. This is what I decided on for my NOTD today. Isn't she gorgeous? I wish Sally Hansen would come out with more colors and finishes like this again soon!
