NUBAR - MODERN MATTE COLLECTION

Today I have nubar's take on the matte craze that has been so hot this season. The matte craze has taken full force of almost every nail polish brand out there. I myself, was not real keen on the mattes. As soon as I saw nubar's matte collection, I was actually a little excited about how these would look on. The four colors of this collection go from purple to red.

Here is what nubar says of their collection:
nubar, the healthy alternative for beautiful nails, presents the Modern Matte Collection. This collection of four cutting edge, exciting matte nail lacquers gives you the modern look with the most innovative shades available. Vital is a deep wine, Prevail a spectacular purple, Avant-Garde a unique russet, and Contempo a stylish twist on a classic red. nubar’s Modern Matte Collection is truly the essence of what is cosmopolitan, and like all nubar products, is free of formaldehyde, phthalates, and toluene.

NMC330: - Vital: - a deep wine
NMC331: - Prevail: - a spectacular purple
NMC332: - Avant-Garde: - a unique russet
NMC333: - Contempo: - a classic red

I have read on other blogs about mattes being harder to apply than regular polish, and the need for speed to avoid it drying up on you. Since these were my first mattes, I was prepared for some real problems with the application. I didn't have a single problem with any of these, not a single one! Maybe nubar has the perfect a formula as far as mattes go. I don't own any other mattes from other brands, so I can't compare as far as that goes. These all applied like butter and did dry quickly, but not so quickly that I felt rushed while applying.

I applied the first one and then asked the bf for his opinion, of course I first explained to him that they are supposed to stay matte. I wanted a male point of view for the whole matte craze. He actually liked it and thought it looked pretty cool. I kept Vital on for one day to see how I felt about it. I must say - these mattes have really grown on me. I do think part of it is though, the great colors that nubar picked. I love purples and reds - so these were right up my alley. Everything about these say FALL to me. Now if only they came up with a burnt orange color perfect for Halloween I would be set baby!! HINT HINT!! :)

If you are on the fence about mattes, I would definitely suggest trying out nubar's Modern Matte Collection. You can find yours on nubar's website and they sell for $24.95.

You are my psychic nail twin. I am wearing Prevail right now and was going to blog on it later! I love it.

For the record though, the Zoyas were even easier to apply.

These are great fall colors! A couple of them seems to have a more satin finish, is that just the light or how they actually turn out?

Not too crazy about the mattes. Did get Zoya Posh though. Did you use a base coat? If not was it easy to remove?

Those are pretty! Maybe I'm way off base, but those look more satin than matte to me. . . .

Well, well look who is liking mattes now! I knew they would eventually get to you. Those are gorgeous colors. I hadn't seen them before. I think they look more satin than matte. But anyway they're still awesome looking. I just ordered the Essie Matte topcoat. That really looks like it works well.

GILDED ANGEL - Some do seem a little bit more satin finish, but I took the pictures right after I applied them. But since Nubar called them mattes, thats what I said they were. :)

NESSA - No, I didn't apply a base coat. The pictures were done with just two coats of the polish and nothing else. They removed really easy for me, I didn't have any problems.

NIVIPA - Some do look a little satin-ey. But since they were listed as mattes, that what I put. Maybe thats why I liked them better than other mattes I have seen, lol!! Who knows! :)
