FANCY FOURTH OF JULY NAILS

I had such high hopes for this nail design. It was just a little to tedious for me to finish on my own nails, unfortunately. Times like these I wish I could just pop off my real nails, decorate them and then pop them right back on. I know if I would have been doing this on someone else, it would have looked much better.

I ran into a few problems, after placing each of the gold balls (yes, one by one!) I used top coat which made the gold bleed onto the white french tip, so I had to go back with a white nail art pen and try to cover up the yellow stains. This made for a sloppy look and it just seemed way to thick around the gold balls.

So after all that I knew I would have to spend at least a good hour to hour and half to do the rest of my nails, so I stopped at just doing the three nails I had done.

Either way, enjoy!

*the blue color I used was a franken I made, Spark in the Dark

  1. That is SO cool!! I think it looks great. But, you placed all those little tiny gold balls by hand?! Are you crazy?! LOL I dont think it looks messy at all.

  3. I agree with Megan! This is just awesome! Not messy-looking at all. But really, you are crazy to put those small beads all on there one by one! =] Then again, you do have a blog entirely dedicated to nails so...and me too so...I guess that makes us all a little tetched in the head! =]

  5. This is a fantastic look for the fourth of July. Shame you could only do three nails. I still appreciate the effort. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

  6. This looks very pretty and somehow royal! Thanks for the heads up on top coat making the little gold balls bleed - makes me wonder if the top coat dissolved the balls. I just bought some at Sally Beauty, so it's good to know before I start using them.

  7. DESERTNAILS* - Mine came from Japan off Ebay, so I'm sure that mine are made really cheaply which could be a factor in the bleeding. The ones from Sally's I would think would hold up better. I don't they the balls desolved just the gold coating. I also think it stood out so much since it was on white polish, I couldn't see it on the blue, so I'm sure they are safe for darker nail polish colors.

  13. I see where you were going with this but I think I would have given up after three nails too! That is a major design undertaking you had there! :) Those gold balls aren't as bad as I thought they would be though. I used them in my SATC2 inspired mani.
